#Showbiz: Hometown of BTS' Jungkook thanks fans for birthday donations

KUALA LUMPUR: Jungkook of international K-Pop group BTS will be celebrating his birthday on Sunday. Fans, or Army as the fandom is known, have mobilised to mark the occasion with charitable acts.

According to Koreaboo, several of Jungkook’s fanbases have already organised charity projects to help the less fortunate children and teens from the 21-year-old idol’s hometown of Buk-Gu in Busan.

Apparently, Jungkook Supporters (@supporter_jk) and The Golden Union (@TheGoldenUnion) had donated 7,000,000 KRW (about RM24,284) and 1,000,000 KRW (about RM3,469) in Jungkook’s name.

Their donations will be channeled to assist about 70 local youths in need, as well as disabled children who attend the Buk-Gu Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled.

In response to the compassionate act done in the name of the singer-songwriter, whose real name is Jeon Jung-kook, the district office from the idol’s hometown had released a statement.

The Buk-Gu office wrote: “We express our deep appreciation for the beautiful donation through their mature fandom culture, along with BTS who are role models for teenagers who spread a message of hope.”
