#Showbiz: Rita and Lisdawati make peace

KUALA LUMPUR: Known for their controversial “cat fight” in the swimming pool more than 13 years ago, actresses Rita Rudaini and Lisdawati Nazaruddin have since buried the hatchet.

The two artistes are even prepared to star alongside each other in drama productions or films.

Both of them who agreed to let bygones be bygones, have no intention to look back on the embarrassing incident which took place on the set of a drama.

“I only want to look ahead. People change over time. Furthermore, we have grown older and wiser. There is no point being enemies,” said Lisdawati at Melodi Salute, the 30th anniversary celebration of TV3’s long-running entertainment programme Melodi at Seri Pentas, Bandar Utama yesterday.

“After that unfortunate incident, I had dreams about making up with Rita. Perhaps, God wanted to show me a sign. Not long after that, we met and apologised to each other.

Meanwhile, Rita said that both Lisdawati and her had been on speaking terms for a long time now.

“It’s just that we've not spent much time together. It's great that Melodi Salute has brought us closer together and we've promised to keep in contact more often," said Rita.

“In fact, I'd be delighted to star with Lisda in a film or drama. We admire each other's work, despite that unfortunate episode years ago."

Rita also said that she had no problem co-starring with Lisdawati's actor husband Fauzi Nawawi, who was also present at Melodi Salute.

Rita's and Lisdawati's spat occurred on the set of Kau Ku Sayang directed by Rashid Sibir. Their fight was believed to be linked to Fauzi.
