#Showbiz: Taeyeon and NCT Dream S'pore concerts postponed

KUALA LUMPUR: K-Pop fans in this region will have to hold their excitement for the moment as concerts are cancelled due to concerns of health and safety in light of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

According to Channel News Asia, concerts by South Korean artistes Taeyeon and NCT Dream, that were scheduled to take place next month in Singapore, have been postponed.

Taeyeon, who is part of popular K-Pop group Girls’ Generation, was expected to perform tomorrow while the six-member third sub-unit of boyband NCT was supposed to be on Feb 15.

One Production, the organiser for the two concerts featuring the SM Entertainment artistes, released a statement on the matter yesterday.

The statement on its official Facebook page read: “We are deeply sorry to announce that Taeyeon Concert – The Unseen – in Singapore on Feb 1 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and the NCT Dream Tour The Dream Show in Singapore on Feb 15 at The Star Theatre have been postponed.”

It added: “The safety of artistes, patrons and staff is our top priority and we will continue to act on advice from the authorities on the coronavirus and take precautionary measures in line with prevention efforts.”

One Production also announced that fans who had already purchased tickets would receive full refunds. Visit www.apactix.com for details.

On a lighter note, Koreaboo reported that Taeyeon had a great night yesterday at the 29th Seoul Music Awards by bagging three awards.

They were a Bonsang and the OST Award for her song from the Hotel Del Luna soundtrack, Four Seasons, as well as the Daesang (main prize) which was Digital Record of the Year.

While the 30-year-old idol had won many Daesang awards as part of Girls’ Generation, this marked her first time receiving the main prize as a solo artiste.

It was also a milestone for her since she has apparently become the third female solo artiste in Korean music history, aside from BoA and IU, to win a Daesang.
