#Showbiz: Qody Rani loses father just days before wedding day

KUALA LUMPUR: It was a bittersweet moment for singer Qody Rani when his recent happy day of getting married was punctuated by the death of his beloved father Abdul Rani Awang.

In a news report yesterday, the 24-year-old artiste’s father drew his last breath on March 1, just four days prior to his big day.

Abdul Rani was suffering from a disease afflicting his lungs for the past decade. Qody, whose real name is Rossaidi Abdul Rani, tied the know with Nurul Atiqah Mohd Fuad in Langkawi last Thursday.

The Mentor Milenia 2016 runner-up said: “I was really sad because my father could not be with me during the day of my nikah. What can I do? God loves him more.”

“He had been suffering from lung disease for the past decade but his condition became much worse recently.”

“My father drew his last breath with my mother by his side. He was 69. I accept his passing,” he added.

Qody said that he was also pained by not being able to care for his father full-time since he had various work commitments to attend to.

“My parents have been separated for the past 20 years. I could not take care of him full-time because I was busy with work commitments.”

“I admit that I felt in my heart a desire for my father to bear witness to my day of becoming a husband, even if he was just on his bed alive and aware of it.”

“My other siblings were lucky enough to have my father present during their weddings, not so for me. But we can only plan, as God will determine what happens eventually,” he said.

The singer, who hails from Pulau Tuba in Langkawi, has released various singles including the Ippo Hafiz-composed hit single, Dia.

Aside from Dia, which was the theme tune to the drama Kekasih Paksa Rela, Qody also sang a duet with Marsha Milan Londoh for the theme song to the film Tujuh, titled Ku Bersumpah.
