KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning hip hop artiste Joe Flizzow has postponed his wedding reception in view of the growing concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic.
Joe, whose real name is Johan Ishak, is engaged to Marini Ramlan.
The two were supposed to have the wedding do after their solemnisation ceremony on April 4.
He said it was crucial to observe social-distancing and safeguarding the well-being and health of guests.
“It was not an easy decision as I was looking forward to sharing this happy day with my family and friends,” said the 40-year-old rapper who discussed the issue with the family.
“But I need to do the responsible thing and respect the authorities’ call to refrain from organising big gatherings.”
However, Joe said the solemnisation ceremony would proceed as planned. It will be attended by immediate family members only.
The deferred date of the reception has not been fixed but will be held when anxieties over Covid-19 subside.
“In these trying times, let’s all stay safe,” he said.
