#Showbiz: 'Do they think they are invincible?', says Fatin Afeefa on home quarantine flouters

KUALA LUMPUR: Those flouting self-quarantine order were simply down right irresponsible and selfish, said actress Fatin Afeefa Shamsudin.

"Do they think they are invincible? Don't they worry that their action would mean spreading the virus to their loved ones and others?," said the 26-year-old artiste who could not fathom why some people would want to jeopardise other people's health.

Fatin Afeefa said that when she arrived home after a working trip to Brazil last March, she avoided contact with others by self-isolating at home, after being advised to take the necessary precaution at the time, even though the Covid-19 outbreak was still in its early stages.

"Fortunately, Nelydia (Senrose) and I arrived home just a few days before the MCO was enforced.

"But we took it upon ourselves to self-quarantine for 14 days, just to be on the safe side, for the sake of our family and loved ones.

"I was separated from my children and although I missed them very much, I knew I had to observe the two-week of self-isolation," said the single mother of two when met at the opening of Havaianas flagship store at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Fatin Afeefa and Nelydia were in Brazil for a familiarisation trip as the brand's global squad alongside other celebrities including Indonesian actress Luna Maya.

For Nelydia, 25, she was thankful that the timing of the trip could not have been better.

"We were extremely lucky. At that time, Brazil had very low number of cases. So when we arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the screening we had to go through was not as strict as those who had just landed from high-risked countries like China," said Nelydia who also took upon herself to observe the quarantine period after arriving home.

Currently, Brazil is ranked second after the United States for the highest number of recorded Covid-19 cases, with a total of almost 2.5 million cases and 90,000 deaths to date.
