KUALA LUMPUR: Life-size action figures from the popular animation franchise Ejen Ali have made history by being the first to be displayed at the River of Life (RoL) tourist attraction in the capital city.
The launching ceremony, which featured the unveiling of the titular hero and fellow agent Alicia, was attended by Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa and Media Prima Television Networks CEO Datuk Khairul Anwar Salleh.
Khairul Anwar said that Media Prima Berhad and Ejen Ali producer WAU Animation were very proud that the heroic characters were chosen as ambassadors for the river restoration and environmental conservation project.
"As an animation brand that is beloved by many, this partnership is really meaningful to us. As many would already know, the Ejen Ali franchise is already a very established and strong one.
"Now, it has been selected for the honourable aim of providing awareness on environmental conservation, river restoration and more. This proves that animation is capable of bringing about change in society," he said in a news report yesterday.
WAU Animation founder Usamah Zaid Yasin added that they were also honoured and fully supported this important mission to enhance public awareness on the pertinent issues.
"We have produced five videos on the importance of conserving our natural surroundings and rivers for this project.
"We hope that it will leave a lasting impression and be beneficial in its objective of raising awareness," he said.
At the same time, Usamah hoped that the statues of the characters, weighing 350kgs with a height of four to five feet, would not fall victim to vandalism.
"Seeing that they are being displayed in a public space, I hope that visitors will not destroy the figures. We would like the statues to become an important symbol for this wholesome project," he said.
The partnership is the latest initiative of the Federal Territories Ministry (KWP) to educate the public on the importance for river conservation as it ensures a clean water source and sustains the natural habitat of animals and plants.
Ejen Ali was selected as an icon for the awareness campaign in order to deliver a more significant impact to the public on the objectives and benefits of the RoL project.
