KUALA LUMPUR: Local epic action-drama movie Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan has collected an impressive RM11 million at the box office in just four days after it premiered in cinemas last Thursday.
The good news was shared by local cinema chain Golden Screen Cinemas on its social media accounts. It added that the amount was tabulated as of 9pm yesterday.
Produced by Studio Kembara in collaboration with Skop Productions, the Syamsul Yusof-directed movie had previously become the first local epic film to break the RM1 million barrier on its first day of screening.
Studio Kembara managing director Abdul Rahman Mt Dali said that the phenomenal success of the movie was a most pleasant surprise.
"We are so very grateful to God over the wonderous reception towards the movie.
"We are very taken by this success which raises our spirits to create even better works in the future," he said in a recent news report.
Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan is also being screened in cinemas in Singapore and Brunei.
Based on the titular historical figure who fought the British colonialists in Pahang during the 1880s, the movie features an ensemble cast that includes Datuk Adi Putra, Datuk Jalaludin Hassan, Fattah Amin, Beto Kusyairy, Johan Asa'ri, Khir Rahman, Yayan Ruhian, Datuk Rahim Razali, Nam Ron and Wan Hanafi Su.
