KUALA LUMPUR: Television host Elly Mazlein has decided to "drop" her zany and over-the-top stage persona Kak Lina Pom Pom as the co-host of All Stars Gegar Vaganza (ASGV) or GV10.
"Based on GV fan feedback, Kak Lina Pom Pom has decided to call it a day on the popular reality talent show. Don't worry, Elly Mazlein will take over her place every Sunday," said Elly in an Instagram post yesterday.
Elly or Sharifah Mszlina Syed Hanafi, 42, will co-host ASGV with Nabil Ahmad and Jihan Muse every Sunday at 9pm on Astro Ria.
Elly said that as Lina, she apologised to followers of the show for her "overboard" jokes and gimmicks and hoped that they would continue to support her hosting duties as her "more mature and serious" self.
In the first ASGV concert last Sunday, many fans felt unhappy when Lina was announced as the show's co-host alongside Nabil and Jihan. They felt that Jihan and Nabil had great chemistry since they worked well as co-hosts of entertainment talk show Meletop, and having the two of them in ASGV was good enough.
ASGV is the show's first "reunion season" featuring all of its past winners in a friendly match
.They are Ayai of Ilusi (GV1), Siti Nordiana (GV2), Azharina Azhar (GV3), Datuk Aishah Ariffin (GV4), Noryn Aziz (GV5), Naqiu and Hady Mirza (GV6), Cliff Umar (GV7), Aliff Aziz (GV8) and Jaclyn Victor (GV9).
The six additional wildcard contestants or Hot Seats Ezad Lazim (GV2), Liza Hanim (GV4), Zamani (GV5), Nikki Palikat (GV8), Suki Low (GV8) and Tomok (GV9) were announced in the first concert by Nabil, Elly and Jihan. The contest, which promises RM200,000 for the winner, is screened live on Astro Ria from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) in Shah Alam at 9pm every Sunday.
The judges who determine each contestant's marks are music director Datuk Ramli MS, singer and music academician Datuk Syafinaz Selamat and Indonesian singer Hetty Koes Endang.
