#Showbiz: AI radio DJ won't replace its human counterpart, says Nazri Noran

KUALA LUMPUR: Artificial Intelligance (AI) radio DJ is not a threat to real-life radio announcers, says Media Prima Audio (MPA) chief operation officer Nazri Noran.

In a news report today, Nazri said this development should not be viewed negatively as it could bring more benefits to an organisation instead of simply reducing its workforce.

"If we really look into AI technology, it could actually mean and and be used to enhance our work productivity and efficiency. Therefore, one's burdensome workload could be reduced," he said.

Nazri added that as radio announcers work almost round the clock, from Monday to Friday, there would be times when they could be overwhelmed with their daily responsibilities as well as other adhoc tasks.

"When an announcer falls sick for example, an AI DJ can take over as a clone and that can guarantee a no interruption in the radio station's announcer scheduling roster, as the technology would also allow one individual to carry out duties without being physically present at a certain location."

Asked on the probability of AI replacing physical workforce, Nazri said it is highly unlikely to happen as the technology still hasn't been fully operating on automation and that it still needed a human touch.

Last June, Fly FM introduced its first AI radio DJ known as DJ Aina Sabrina, created by the station's engineer.

"For the past four months, DJ Aina has been 'handling' the 2-to-4pm shift on the network from Monday till Friday.

"We hope to bring DJ Aina out in future, not just confining it to do work in the studio or social media alone," shared Nazri at an event held at Balai Berita here yesterday to introduce DJ Aina as the first AI Radio DJ in Malaysia.
