#Showbiz: 'Teater Dang Anum' offered roadshow to Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: The recently staged local production Teater Dang Anum by Persatuan Seni & Budaya Redholah (The Redholah) has received an offer to conduct a roadshow in Batam and Riau, Indonesia.

The project's producer and director, Amirul Haswendy Ashari, said that the offer stemmed from theatre fans who were interested to bring the work to several chosen locations in and out of the country.

"We were initially surprised and felt like we were dreaming when they offered to collaborate and sponsor the staging of Teater Dang Anum to several states in Peninsular Malaysia.

"More surprising was that they also wanted the work to be staged in Batam and Riau in Indonesia," he said in a recent news report.

Amirul added that the play was very relatable to the Malays who reside on the islands in the Malay Archipelago like Batam and Riau.

"As for now, our side is not yet ready to share the details since we are still in the process of discussion.

"We want Teater Dang Anum to finish its run here first. If we have rezeki, then there's no reason for the production not to travel widely around the country and overseas as well," he said.

Teater Dang Anum was staged over the weekend at Panggung Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur.

It starred Ain Sufia as Dang Anum, Azizul Ammar (Megat Seri Rama/Laksamana Bentan), Along Eyzendy (Sultan Mahmud) and Adam Shahz (Tun Beja Ali).

Other experienced theatre actors in the cast included Md Hussin, Azhar Jalil, AG Hafiz, Shareezwan, Myza Alid, Eyza Shariff, Affan Mohd and many more.

Teater Dang Anum is the first theatre production by The Redholah made possible by the Cultural Sector Matching Grant (GSSK) under the Ministry Of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), in partnership with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and the College of Creative Arts, Performing Arts Studies of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).
