#Showbiz: AIIA Improv takes comedy to new heights with One Word Wonder on Jan 20 & 21

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's longest running improv comedy troupe, AIIA Improv has delighted and entertained audiences with its brand of short form comedy improv since 2007.

Following a successful run of long-form improv in 2023, it is set to kick off the new year with a fresh twist on comedy in its upcoming show, One Word Wonder, incorporating musical elements into its long-form improv performance.

The new show will take place at SoulCity Hub in Petaling Jaya, Selangor on Jan 20 and 21.

In this unique performance, the audience plays a pivotal role by suggesting a single word, setting the stage for the improvisers to create an entire show on the spot.

Join the fun with AIIA Improv members Tung Jit Yang, Farah Rani, Shamaine Othman, Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin, and Ashraf Modee Zain, along with special musical guest Irena Taib.

"After almost 14 years of sharing the joy of short form improv games with comedy fans around KL, we now want to share the magic of long form improv where we build a 60 to 70-minute story or mini play just by using a one word suggestion from the audience", said Shamaine who is also a stand-up comedian, in a recent statement.

Iedil Dzhurie who is also an actor said: "We are also excited to have Irena from The Impatient Sisters joining us. Not only will the story be improvised on the spot but Irena will be improvising music that will turn our mini play into a mini musical."

Tickets, priced at RM75, are available for purchase at https://onewordwonder2024.peatix.com.
