#Showbiz: Singer Roy needs funds for amputation of diseased big toe

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Mohammed Rauzan Alwi, better known as Roy, needs RM20,000 to undergo surgery on his diseased right big toe which needs to be amputated.

The 60-year-old artiste took to Facebook to ask for donations from the public so that he could carry out the surgery as quickly as possible.

"I would like to ask for your good grace to help raise funds for surgery on my right big toe which is broken and rotten. Due to this, the infection has spread to the bone of the big toe.

"The specialist doctor has informed me that my big toe has to be cut because it's currently in a chronic and critical condition.

"No medicine or antibiotics can cure it because the germs are in the bones, not the flesh. If the germs were in the flesh, the antibiotics can help.

"Almost half of my sole needs to be cut off, so I was forced to find another way to save my toe to prevent the infection from spreading to other parts," he wrote.

According to Roy, he chose to carry out the surgical procedure at a private hospital because he was forced to wait for a long time at the government hospital.

"I can't hold it off any longer, the waiting period at the government hospital is too long. I'm worried that my leg can't be saved.

"Because of that, I was forced to choose a private hospital, but the cost is quite high, reaching RM20,000.

"I can't afford it and I'm also looking for alternative therapy, but the cost is more or less the same.

"If anyone is willing to help, then I can go ahead with the surgery to save my leg," he said.

Roy added: "I will truly be grateful for your gracious act of donating till the end of my life. Only Allah can repay the kindness and generosity of all my friends."
