#HEALTH: In support of medical treatment for the underprivileged

MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad has contributed RM300,000 to PPUMCare in conjunction with the PPUMCare Run event.

The run was organised by Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) to raise funds to cover the cost of treatment for underprivileged patients.

Announcing the contribution, MR D.I.Y. Group head of marketing, Alex Goh says the contribution to PPUMcare is aimed at helping ensure Malaysians in need gain access to quality medical treatment, without worrying about the cost of treatment and medication.

" We hope this contribution and this event inspires more corporations to come forward to support the wonderful work that PPUM and PPUMcare do," adds Goh.

The PPUMCare Run 2022 raised RM 377,000 from generous contributors.

MR D.I.Y. has a long collaboration with Universiti Malaya across several areas. Since 2017, it has been partnering with UMCares to organise an annual national DIY competition called "DIY Made Simple" for secondary school students designed to inspire awareness of sustainable lifestyle choices.

In November 2021, the retailer contributed RM3.6 million in cash aid and free Covid-19 test kits to more than 12,000 undergraduates to help ease their return to campus post-pandemic.

Last year, the retailer also collaborated with UMMC to build a multipurpose room called The Zone for educational purposes, and contributed vital sign monitors and personal protective equipment to the hospital to help frontliners deal with the demands of the pandemic.
