SHOOT: Pulau Burung's a gem

THERE is an island off Port Dickson that hardly gets due recognition from local tourists. It's Pulau Burung, a tiny island connected to the beautiful Pantai Cahaya Negeri by a 182m bridge.

But at low tide, one can just walk over to the island.

The island is one of the coastal mangrove forests in Port Dickson. It is home to three mangrove tree species — api-api putih, bakau minyak and bakau kurap. There are signages with information on the trees.

Mangrove forests play an important role in preserving the environment;it also creates a complex coastal ecosystem.

Facilities available on Pulau Burung make it a favourite place for outings among locals and those who frequent Port Dickson. The setting sun makes it a perfect finale for visitors.
