HUAWEI introduces hidden features to download apps via HMS devices

SINCE 2019, HUAWEI has been using their own ecosystem known as HUAWEI Mobile Services (HMS).

Initially, HUAWEI consumers were concerned about not being able to access and install applications via Google Mobile Services. However, HMS has now become the third largest mobile ecosystem, with over 550 million active users and 4.5 million registered developers.

Determined to live up to its name as a global technology leader, HUAWEI's ambition is to build a fully connected, intelligent ecosystem for all HUAWEI device users.

Now, HMS comes with new features such as the HUAWEI AppGallery and Petal Search, where users will have access to all the apps they need.

To fully enjoy HMS, users can easily transfer their data from an old smartphone to a new HUAWEI smartphone just by using the Phone Clone app or seek assistance from HUAWEI promoters at any HUAWEI Experience Stores.

There are three ways to download apps on a HUAWEI device, which is via HUAWEI AppGallery, Petal Search and GSpace.

HUAWEI APPGALLERY - EXPLORE APPS THAT YOU NEED

HUAWEI is set on giving its consumers access to applications their consumers need and want.

That is why the HUAWEI AppGallery has both HUAWEI developed apps and other apps for communication, gaming, banking, e-wallet, shopping and many more.

For those who have more than one email account like Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, but prefer not to clutter their HUAWEI smartphone with email applications, be sure to check out the pre-installed Email app on HUAWEI devices, or the myMail app on the HUAWEI AppGallery.

As for those who require picture and video editing apps to explore and sharpen their editing skills, they can download apps like Canva, PicsArt, Photo Editor, CapCut and many more.

PETAL SEARCH, THE SMARTER ENGINE

While the HUAWEI AppGallery has an extensive array of apps, some apps need to be downloaded into the HUAWEI devices via Petal Search.

Petal Search is an AI-powered mobile search engine that makes it easy to find virtually anything online, from news and nearby services, to even apps.

What's better is that the results search function on Petal Search are from the HUAWEI AppGallery and trusted third-party stores –  which provides more options for its consumers.

For example, messaging and social media apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and Twitter can be downloaded through Petal Search.

To install the app, search for the app on Petal Search, click install, and get ready to stay connected with your favourite apps on your HUAWEI smartphone and tablet.

ENJOY GOOGLE APPS WITH GSPACE

The common misconception many have is that it is no longer possible to access the common Google apps with a HUAWEI smartphone.

This is in fact false, because GSpace is a one-stop app that has all the Google apps you need such as Gmail, Google Maps, Google Drive, Google Photos and even YouTube, similar to Google Play.

Users need only install the GSpace app via HUAWEI AppGallery, to enjoy using their favourite Google apps.

Also, users may add the GSpace shortcut to their home screen for added convenience.

If users discover a pop-up message that appears while using the GSpace app, it is nothing to worry about. They can skip the pop-up message and proceed to enjoy access to Google apps.

WHATSAPP TIPS

While downloading WhatsApp on a HUAWEI smartphone may be easy, some may find it confusing to backup their conversations.

Users can ensure their WhatsApp messages are backed up by following the simple steps illustrated in the video below:

Step 1: Back up your WhatsApp app on the old phone. Simply go to Options > Settings > Chat > Chat backup > Click backup. Don't forget to unselect the "Sync to Google Drive" before clicking "Backup" on your old smartphone and waiting for the backup to complete.

Step 2: Create a zip WhatsApp backup folder in the internal storage. For this, use any file browser application in the Play Store on the old phone, such as the Solid Explorer app. Launch the app and navigate to Memory> WhatsApp> Select all folders and press the option (3 vertical dots) and select "Archive"> Name the file WhatsApp> Click create to start the creation of the archive.

Step 3: Share the zip file to the new HUAWEI phone via Bluetooth of HUAWEI Share, if you used an old HUAWEI smartphone.
