DBKL approves Padang Merbok rally

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has given approval to National Silat Federation (PESAKA) to hold a rally at Padang Merbok here this Wednesday.

Mayor, Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said the federation had submitted the application to use Padang Merbok for the red shirts rally.

“We just gave them the green light to hold the rally and it must be held at Padang Merbok only,” he said when contacted today.

It was reported on Saturday that the organiser of the proposed ‘Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' rally has agreed to follow Pesaka’s lead and gather at Padang Merbok.

It was following Pesaka president Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam’s statement that the federation would go ahead with the rally to protect the sanctity of the National Principles (Rukun Negara).

The gathering was open to all Malaysians and no red t-shirts would be required.
