Health Ministry trains Plus Ronda for Raya

KUALA LUMPUR: PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has launched its first aid responder under Plus Ronda as an initiative to ensure instant emergency assistance at accident scenes during this Hari Raya 'balik kampung' season.

Health minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said Plus is working with Health Ministry, Works Ministry and Malaysia Highway Authority (LLM) with first aid training to 220 Plus Ronda officers, 46 per cent from its total members since 2012.

“Early medical care is crucial so that the injuries suffered by the victim do not become more severe.

“We are also improving the first aid kit to be used by Plus Ronda officers in the initial emergency treatment for accident victims,” he said.

The ministry also assisted in enhancing PLUS traffic control centre's emergency call handling process to ensure information obtained from the accident scenes are correct and could be relayed faster.

He said the initiative which was decided in the cabinet meeting as the concessionaires’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

“We are going to see how this pilot project would run to see if there is room for improvement. We also estimated that within a year, all Plus Ronda officers are going to be equipped with first aid training.”

The first aid responder team will be dispatched along Tanjung Malim to Seremban in the north-south highway during the first stage of the service.

This service will be extended to the entire PLUS highways and highways operated by other companies in stages.
