Malacca SPAD issues 15 additional bus permit for Aidilfitri

MALACCA: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has issued an additional 15 bus permits to cater the demand for express buses in Malacca this Aidilfitri.

Malacca SPAD chief Anuar Abdullah said the permit involved 14 express buses and one charter bus which would operatate between July 19 and Aug 4.

He said eight of the permits involved trips to Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah; Kuala Lumpur (six) and Pengkalan Kubor, Kelantan (one).

“The bus permits issued is to cater to 89 existing express buses registered in the state following requests from express bus operators,” he told a news conference after an express bus inspection at the Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal, here today.

The operation, which was also attended by Malacca Transport and Project Recovery committee chairman Lim Ban Hong, inspected vehicle permits, travel schedules as well as operating licences.

Anuar said no action had been taken on bus drivers or operators throughout the inspection carried out by the commission in its operation since July 21, compared to five cases last year.

He added that no ticket tout activities were detected so far and all ticket sales were done at 35 counters operating at the bus terminal.

Meanwhile Lim advised express bus passengers to know their rights as consumers and they couldcontact 1800-88-7723 to lodge a complaint or give feedback.

“Passengers need to know the amount they should pay for their ticket and ensure their bus completes the journey without changing bus halfway,” he said. - BERNAMA
