Sultan of Selangor tells Khalid to wait

SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor has asked Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to wait until he returns from abroad to explain the latest political situation in the state.

The Sultan of Selangor's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said he had received a request from Khalid to have an audience with the Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah overseas to explain the political situation and development in Selangor and also his position as Menteri Besar.

However, the Sultan had decreed that Khalid should wait until he returned.

"I have conveyed his request to His Majesty. However, he has decreed that Khalid wait until he returns in a few more days," said Mohamad Munir in a statement today.

Later today Khalid said he will heed the Sultan's advice.

"I respect and will heed the Sultan of Selangor's advice to meet him after he returns (from abroad).

"Until then, I and the state executive councillors will continue to perform our duties as usual to ensure smooth running of state's administration and governance," he said in a statement.

Khalid also urged all quarters, especially political leaders to respect the Sultan of Selangor's decree and refrain from making any statement which could invite negative perception of the Sultan of Selangor.
