MH17: Remains of two victims to be brought back to Johor

JOHOR BARU: The remains of two Malaysians who died in the Malaysian Airlines MH17 tragedy would be brought back to their respective hometowns in Johor.

The remains of both Mohd Ali Md Salim, 30, and Hasni Hardi Parlan, 32, will be flown by separate helicopters to their respective final resting places in Pagoh and also Segamat in Johor from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Friday.

In a statement by the Johor Information Department today, they expect the remains to arrive in the state by 12.30pm.

“In Pagoh, the remains of Mohd Ali will arrive via helicopter at the IKBN Pagoh field where prayers will be held at the Masjid Jamek IKBN before being brought to the family home.

“Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin will be at Pagoh,” read the statement.

Mohd Ali's remains will then be brought to the Muslim cemetary at Tanah Perkuburan Kampung Raja in Pagoh as his final resting place.

In Segamat, the statement said that Hasni's remains will also arrive on a separate helicopter at the same time as Mohd Ali.

“The helicopter will land at Padang B (near Sekolah Tinggi Segamat) and Hasni's remains will be brought to Masjid Jamek Segamat before being brought back to the family home in Batu Anam in the district.

“Johor speaker Tan Sri Mohammad Aziz and senior state executive council members will be present in Segamat,” read the statement.

It is learnt that Hasni's remains will be buried at the Tanah Wakaf Perkuburan Islam at Batu 8, Kampung Paya Luas, Batu Anam in Segamat.

The statement also said a short tahlil ceremony will be held for both the victims before they are scheduled to arrive in the state on Friday.
