Only 63 flood victims remain at two relief centres in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: The number of flood victims in the state continued to drop this morning with only 63 people left taking shelter at flood relief centres.

The 63 people from 18 families were evacuated to two relief centres namely SK Wakaf Raja in Pasir Puteh and SK Tok Deh in Rantau Panjang.

As of 9.45am this morning, 33 of them were at SK Wakaf Raja while the remaining 30 were placed at SK Tok Deh.

Meanwhile, the Golok river in Rantau Panjang has receded below its danger level this morning.

As of 9.45am, the river was measured at 8.93m deep which is 0.93m above its warning mark of 8m.

Except for the Kelantan river in Kota Baru which was recorded above its alert mark, the other main rivers were still at their normal levels.

The Kelantan river was recorded at 1.54m which is 0.04m above its alert mark of 1.50m.

The overall flood situation is unchanged as heavy rain hit the state last night.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe-level continuous heavy rain warning for Kelantan and Terengganu until tomorrow (Nov 26).

In a statement yesterday, MetMalaysia said the areas involved in Kelantan are Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai.

MetMalaysia also said that continuous rain is expected in Gua Musang, Kelantan, as well as in Jerantut and Kuantan, Pahang during the same period too.

A continuous rain warning has also been issued for all districts in Perlis, Kedah, and Penang, while in Perak, the areas affected are; Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar and Manjung- which is expected to occur from today until Thursday.
