MH17: Police reports lodged over insensitive remarks National Mourning Day

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Umno Youth lodged two police reports over insensitive social media posts pertaining to MH17 and threats against national security here today.

On the chopping block is former Rembau Parti Keadilan Rakyat member Badrul Hisham Shaharin who had tweeted an offensive remark on MH17.

In a tweet on Friday at 12.33pm, Badrul, tweeted "MH 17 menutup cerita MH370?" (MH17 closing story of MH370?) on his twitter handle, @chegubard.

Chegubard also retweeted ""@SinarOnline: Warga emas maut dilanggar lari #SHUTR http://fb.me/3cQo0m2ht " mungkin kita juga perlukan penghormatan negara buat dia ?!" (referring to an online portal news article on an accident involving a citizen, he commented: "perhaps we need to have a mourning day for her too")

While another offending post was on Facebook, with a user with a name of 'Doule 0 Seven' (CORRECT), had posted "kita perlu hapuskan kerajaan Malaysia melalui jihad, perang dan revolusi" (we need to destroy the government of Malaysia through jihad, war and a revolution)

Another post by the same user read: "Kerajaan demokrasi yang syirik dan kufur mewujudkan gejala kufur seperti penindasan, kebatilan dan ketuanan kufur" (roughly translated to: Democratic governments that is syirik and kufuk create symptoms such as oppression, falsehood and deny the supremacy)

The two posts were posted at two different Facebook pages, one at the 'Sayap Kanan' private group page and another at 'Kelab Pemuda Pas Malaysia', which is a public page.

The identity of the poster is not yet known and his account appears to be active.

Penang Umno Youth, led by its deputy chief, Jasmin Noordin lodged two reports against the both of them at the Northeast district police headquarters yesterday afternoon.

Jasmin chided Chegubard for being irresponsible and insensitive to the feelings of the victims of the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines flights MH370 and MH17.

"At a time where we are mourning, there are so people who just do not care. He must be responsible about what he has posted.

"If he feels that he knows something about MH370 that the government investigators does not know, he should come up with the details," he said when met outside the police station.

Jasmin hoped that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission would investigate the user 'Doule 0 Seven' immediately for sedition.

"Posts like that is very seditious in nature and we hope the police would take swift action on both individuals," he said.
