Sabahan accepted by Society of Golden Keys

JOHOR BARU: Thistle Johor Baru guest experience manager Arnel Amor Tolentino has been accepted as a member of the Society Of The Golden Keys Malaysia.

Tolentino, who is from Sabah, is the first hotel employee in Johor Baru to become a member of the organisation.

The official pinning ceremony was held recently at the Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur.

Its general manager, Edward Kollmer, congratulated Tolentino who has been with Thistle Johor Baru for about two years.

The society’s board received many applicants and only the best were short-listed.

After a formal interview session, Tolentino was chosen to be in the list of finalists for the Society Of The Golden Keys Malaysia membership.

Tolentino said he was determined and ready to use his expertise and knowledge of tourist information to serve hotel guests to the highest level of expectation.

The society in Malaysia was founded in 1997 and presided over by former chef concierge of The Regent Kuala Lumpur, Timothy Gan.

Also known as Les Clefs d’’Or (Concierge), the society was established in Oct 1929 when Hotel Ambassador in Paris concierge Pierre Quentin and 10 others from grand hotels in the city realised that they could operate more effectively as a team.

The founding general assembly took place on Nov 27, 1929 and saw more than one hundred members joining.

The two oldest associations are the French and the Swede chapters. By Chuah Bee Kim
