Hadi claims Pas successfully administers Kelantan due to prudent spending

TUMPAT: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang claimed that the party had successfully administered Kelantan for over 20 years now because it was smart in spending prudently.

He said this was the secret of PAS’ good leadership in Kelantan which, according to him, dared not misuse public funds as it was worried about committing a sin.

“This is the secret, (we) don’t get involved in corruption, in misconduct and in many other things,” he said at a ceramah in conjunction with the Pengkalan Kubor state seat by-election campaign in Kampung Ketil, here, late last night.

Hadi said the PAS Kelantan government did not commit any wrongdoings and claimed that only PAS had fought for Islam in this country and it did not separate religion from politics.

He then used the ceramah stage to condemn Umno including saying that Umno members could do anything they wanted because the party separated religion from politics.

Hadi also touched on the oil royalty despite PAS’ deputy secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan having stressed recently that the oil royalty issue should not be raised in the by-election campaign as it had become a court case.

In the upcoming Pengkalan Kubor by-election, Barisan Nasional candidate Mat Razi Mat Ail, 48, will be facing PAS candidate Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim, 56, and an Independent, Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary, 47. The by-election is being held following the death of the area’s assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar from liver cancer on Aug 20. In the 13th general election last year, Nor Zahidi defeated Saharun Ibrahim from PKR and Izat Bukhary with a 1,736-vote majority.

Polling will be on Sept 25.
