Man fires warning shot, worker robbed of RM2,000

MELAKA: Two men on a motorcycle fired three shots in the air before fleeing with RM2,000 belonging to an Indonesian contract worker at a restaurant in Sungai Duyong here early today.

Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Shaikh Abdul Adzis Shaikh Abdullah said the suspects, both in their 20s, arrived in front of the restaurant at about 12.50 am on a Yamaha 125z motorcycle.

He said one of them then rushed into the restaurant while firing shots in the air, while the other waited on the motorcycle.

The suspect who entered the shop went to the 40-year-old victim who was fixing tiles at the back of the shop, took the money and then fled with his accomplice, he told reporters here today.

However, he said, no one was injured in the incident.

Police have mounted a hunt for the suspects, he added. – BERNAMA
