2,407 flood victims evacuated to 17 relief centres in Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU: Flood situation in Terengganu has worsened as 2,407 people evacuated to 17 relief centres as at 4.30pm today.

Kuala Terengganu remained the worst affected areas with 1,554 evacuees from 405 families located at 11 relief centres followed by Marang where 818 people from 196 families moved to two relief centres.

In Setiu, 32 people from nine families were evacuated to three relief centres.

Most of the affected areas are under 0.5 and 1.0 meters of waters.

Meanwhile, State Security Council's portal said in Besut three people from one family were moved to the Kampung Beris Pak Abu multi-purpose hall early morning yesterday.

Residents in low lying areas in Hulu Terengganu whose houses were inundated on Tuesday have returned home yesterday.

All major rivers were still below their respective alert levels.

UPDATE

Even though the relief centres for flood victims were reduced to 16, flood situation in Terengganu has worsened as another 136 people were sent to relief centres as at 6.35pm today.

As before, Kuala Terengganu remained top with 1,704 people from 435 families evacuated to 11 relief centres followed by Marang with 818 people from 196 relief centres moved to two relief centres.

In Setiu, 18 people from five families were evacuated to two relief centres.

Most of the affected areas at those areas are under 0.5 and 1.0 meters of waters.

Meanwhile, State Security Council's portal said in Besut remained with three people from one family still at Kampung Beris Pak Abu multi-purpose hall.

Residents in low lying areas in Hulu Terengganu whose houses were inundated on Tuesday have returned home this morning.
