Former Terengganu MB lodges police report after implicated in cheating case

KUALA TERENGGANU: Former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said urged the police to investigate the unknown person who cheated a Singaporean business man of RM1.8 million and at the same time using his name.

Ahmad who was being informed about the incident on September this year, today lodged a police report against the person who was unknown to him, and had used his name to cheat a sawmill manager of RM1.8 million, at 10.50am.

In his report, Ahmad alleged that the person who has the title “Datuk” aged 52, had duped a manager of the sawmill, Toh Lam Eng, who worked at the Kilang Papan Jaya Seberang Takir Sdn Bhd, into paying RM1.8 million for a logging concession.

Ahmad said his own investigation found out that he had no idea who the ‘Datuk’ was and then met Toh later.

“I was told that the ‘Datuk’ had taken the money to be given to me in return for a logging concession under the sawmill scheme,” he told reporters after making a report at the Kuala Terengganu police station.

“I have no idea who this ‘Datuk’ is. Neither did I receive any money. But the incident had tarnished my image as a politician and former Menteri Besar,” he added.

Ahmad, who is Kijal State Assemblyman, said the report was to enable the police to carry out an investigation and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
