Ambulance driver killed, eight injured in expressway accident

KUALA LUMPUR: An ambulance driver was killed in a road accident involving the Kuala Lumpur Hospital's emergency vehicle and a Toyota Innova at KM404 of the North-South Expressway (southbound) near Kuala Kubu Baru today.

The 4pm incident also saw a male medical assistant seriously injured, while seven others including two nurses, two women and three girls suffered minor injuries.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the ambulance was only carrying the driver, medical assistant and nurses when the incident happened.

He said the department received a call on the incident at 4pm and 14 firemen from the Kuala Kubu Baru and Tanjung Malim (Perak) fire stations were despatched to the scene.

Mohd Sani said the injured victims were rushed to Tanjung Malim Hospital.
