TAIPING: A teenager was killed while his friend was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were on skidded and landed inside the drain in Assam Kumbang here this morning.
The teenagers, from Maahad Tahfiz Ar-Rahimiah, Pokok Assam, were believed to have lost control of the machine in the 8.20am incident.
The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Irfan Nabil Hakim Faizol, 12, from Taman Changkat Jering while the injured has been identified as Muhd Yusof Saifudin, 15.
Taiping district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusof Mohd Diah, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
“Initial investigations revealed the motorcycle had skidded to the side of the road and had crashed into the concrete drain cover. Both teenagers fell into the drain.
“When police arrived, Muhammad Irfan’s remains were still inside the drain while passers-by have help to remove Muhd Yusof from the drain,” he said.
Yusof said the deceased remains were sent to the Taiping Hospital for a post-mortem.
The injured had also been sent to the same hospital for treatment.
