ASSISTANCE: It will be given to all flood victims irrespective of race
and their political leanings, said Abdul Azeez
KOTA BARU: Umno through its Welfare Bureau will be distributing seven
containers of food and other items to flood victims in Kelantan.
The bureau's chief Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the assistance
was carried out on the instruction of party president Datuk Seri Najib
Razak as the state was badly hit by floods this year.
“We did not take into the account that the state is governed by Pas
as our intention is to help the victims. The aid will be given to all
of them irrespective of their race and political leanings.
“In fact, we welcome if there are Pas representatives who are willing
to help in the distribution of the goods,” he told reporters after
handing over the assistance to Umno division heads at the State Umno
building here today.
Abdul Azeez said priority would be given to the areas which were
badly affected like Pasir Mas, Rantau Panjang, Tanah Merah and Tumpat.
“We will be going to these four places today and visit the other
areas tomorrow. We will also discuss with the state Umno on the other
assistance needed,” he said.
Besides food, the other items included mattresses, pillows, blankets
and healthcare items.
