APL plays role in flood relief operation in Kelantan

KUALA LUMPUR: Aviation asset and service provider, Aerial Power Lines Sdn Bhd, deployed its two light helicopters (AS350B3e and EC135T2) to Kota Baru today to take part in flood relief operation.

“We will try to assist government agencies to deliver food, water and other basic needs to inaccessible areas, we also ready to do MEDEVAC mission.

“These are ‘life-saving missions’ in line with APL’s objective to be the pioneer as Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) provider in Malaysia,” said APL’s Chief Executive Officer Major (Retired) Wan Izani Wan Ismail.

He said APL is currently waiting for government approval for the first fully equipped and fully dedicated HEMS operation nationwide where the first phase of the program is planned to start in the second quarter of 2015 covering the west coast of peninsular Malaysia.

“Our partnership with Deutsche Rettungsflugwacht e.V (DRF Air Rescue, Germany), collaboration with Global OEMs and guidance by Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCAM) have encouraged our maturity in the business,” he said.
