51-year-old killed in motorcycle-lorry crash

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 51-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a lorry near Kampung Gemuruh, Tepuh, this afternoon.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Idris Abdul Rafar said the victim Wan Mohdzar Wan Johar of Kampung Padang Baloh, Jerteh, had tried to avoid a lorry from the opposite direction.

The victim was heading towards Kuala Terengganu from Besut in the 12.40pm incident.

Idris said the victim’s motorcycle skidded and he lost control before ramming into the lorry.

Wan Mohdzar suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot while the 29-year-old lorry driver escaped unhurt.

Idris said Wan Mohdzar’s body was sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for post mortem and the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road and Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing death.
