Ford unveils Sync 3

SHANGHAI: At the Consumer Electronics Show, which is the first to be held outside of the US, Ford showcases its latest in-car connectivity system, called Sync 3.

The new innovation uses more conversational voice command, touchscreen and interface to enable drivers to control their car entertainment, smartphone, climate settings and more, in a more natural manner.

Fords says it wants people to stay connected while driving and get all the information possible, but at the same time it wants to eliminate the manual way of using smartphones in car, hence the voice command Sync 3 system.

"With Sync 3, Ford is delivering an easier way for drivers to stay connected, on-the-go," says Ford Asia Pacific and Europe, director, connected vehicles and services, Joe Beiser.

Ford also demonstrates how its new Ford AppLink platform allows drivers to use their favourite smartphone apps in the car, handsfree.

"Drivers should be able to use their favourite mobile apps while keeping their hands and eyes on the road," says Beiser.

Besides that, Ford also showcases its pilot project in China on how renewable energy can be used to power plug-in vehicles to reduce the carbon footprint.

The system will be available in all Ford models like the Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta, and Escape, and other models not available in Malaysia.
