Couple detained for boy cemented case remanded until Saturday

KUALA LUMPUR: The husband and wife detained in connection with a murder of a boy in Taman Usaha Jaya, Kepong are remanded until Saturday.

Gombak district deputy police chief Muhammed Hasbullah Ali said police had requested for remand order when they were arrested in Sabah.

"The suspects will be on 5pm flight today and are expected to arrive at about 7pm," he said when contacted.

The couple will be taken to Gombak district police headquarters for questioning.

The suspects were nabbed in two separate arrests in Keningau and Penampang, Sabah following the discovery of the boy’s remains underneath the kitchen of a house on Friday.

Post-mortem revealed the remains were of a boy aged between 8 and 10, and that he had been dead for about eight weeks.

It was reported during the operation conducted by Sabah police, the couple was missing one of their two boys, while their two other children have been left in the custody of their mother’s younger sister.

Police had sought to have the victim’s and the duo’s DNA tested for a comparison examination to ascertain their relationship.
