Man on his way to shop chased, slashed to death

IPOH: A 45-year-old man was found dead with seven slash wounds on his head and arms at the back lane in Taman Klebang Restu here today.

It is learnt that the victim, identified only as Gobinathan, was attacked by a man armed with parang about 12 noon today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong said the victim was on his way to a sundry shop when he was chased by a suspect.

"After he was slashed with the parang, the victim tried to escape but fell near a drain, about 80 metres away," he said.

Sum said the suspect later fled with an accomplice who waited on a motorcycle nearby.

He said police had classified the case as murder and were investigating the motive.
