164,000 to face water disruption in JB starting July 11

JOHOR BARU: About 164,000 consumers in the Johor Baru district will face a 48-hour water disruption starting Saturday evening due to repair works that will be conducted at a leaked water pipe in Jalan Taruka, Larkin.

State water utility company, SAJ Holdings Sdn Bhd said it had detected the damage at the 1,200mm-wide pipe, which is connected to three main water supply tanks in the district, last Wednesday.

However, land and rubbish clearing works have to be conducted before repair works could be done on the pipe which is 10m below the ground.

"The pipe repair and maintenance works are expected to begin late Saturday evening once workers have cleared soil and rubbish in the area," said the statement.

"The cause of the leaked pipe was due to land embankment works at the location."
