2 students and a teacher to represent Malaysia to the Antarctica

HULU TERENGGANU: Two students and an English Language teacher from Terengganu will be among six participants from Malaysia selected to go to Antarctica to do a research of the ecosystem there.

They are scheduled to leave on Monday and will be there for two weeks.

Terengganu Education Director Shafruddin Ali Hussin said the students and the teacher from Terengganu were selected through the ‘Student On Ice 2015 Artic Expedition’ organised by the Sultan Mizan Antarctic Research Foundation (SMARF) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

He said the two students, both in Form Five, were Nurul Izzaidah Zulkifle, 17, from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Ampuan Intan (SMKTAI) and Ahmad Amirul Farhan Zulkifli, 17, from SMK Agama Sheikh Abdul Malek.

The teacher is Roszita Mat Zin, from SMKTAI, he added.

He said their expenses, of about RM50,000 each, would be borne by SMARF.

“After their return, they are required to table the outcome of their research and share their experiences with other students,” he added. --Bernama
