GEORGE TOWN: A senior police officer has reported the loss of his service pistol during a break-in last Sunday at his house in Bukit Mertajam near here.
The Walther P99 firearm was issued by the Royal Malaysian Police.
Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said the break-in was reported at 2am.
He said the officer, in his 50s and attached to the Kelantan police contingent was on vacation at his home in Bukit Mertajam when the break-in occurred.
“The officer was alone in the house when the burglar entered the premises via the front door,” he said in a statement here today.
He said besides the firearm, the policeman’s mobile phone, bag and an undisclosed amount of money were taken.--BERNAMA
