Robbers tie family of five, escape with valuables worth RM15,000

KEMAMAN: A family of five were robbed of their valuables and cash worth RM15,000 when three robbers armed with parangs entered their house at in Kampung Perasing Jaya, Jabor, here, yesterday morning.

Acting district police chief Deputy Superintendent Normansah Din said the family, a 28-year-old man, his wife, both his parents and a nephew were asleep when the suspects entered their house in the 4am incident.

Normansah said the robbers are believed to be of Indonesian nationals based on the way they speak, tied up their hands with wires and placed them at the hall before ransacking the house.

"They took about 45 minutes in the house before escaping with RM2,500 cash, gold bangles, a gold chain, gold rings and seven mobile phones," he said adding that police are actively looking for the suspects.

He said the man who later managed to free himself contacted the Chukai police station about the incident.

“A 62-year-old man was injured on his head after being hit by one of the robbers and received outpatient treatment at the Kemaman Hospital," added Normanshah.

The case was being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang-robbery.
