Angler found decomposed body with nylon rope and belt wrapped around neck

KUALA LANGAT: A strong whiff of stench detected by an angler who was on his way to Paya Indah Wetland, here, led to the discovery of a fully clothed decomposed body with nylon rope and a belt still wrapped around his neck.

The angler was walking to a fishing location when he smelled the strong stench and found what was later discovered as remains of a man wrapped with a thick blanket on Tuesday.

The body was wearing a long sleeve shirt, white singlet, denim pants and a grey head cover.

Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Zailan Tasir said the victim was believed to be strangled to death before he was wrapped with the blanket.

"The body was found about 200 metres from the main road. We believe that the victim was murdered from the criminal elements found on the skeleton.

"The victim was strangled with an orange nylon rope and a blue belt before his body was disposed," he said, here, today.

Also found on the victim are a chain of black beads, and two silver rings on one of the victim's finger.

Zailan said there were also slash marks on his left knee and his leg from the knee downwards was missing.

The victim, he said, is estimated to be in his 30s and his height is about 165cm.

"We believe that the victim was killed elsewhere before his body was brought to the wetland. This incident may have happened about a month ago and it is the work of two or three suspects," he added.

The case is investigated according to Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and those who have a family member missing are urged to contact the Kuala Langat district police headquarters or investigation officer ASP Hussin Zamora at 013-7713456 for identification process.
