Decomposed body found adrift in Tanjung Penawar waters

KOTA TINGGI: A body of a man was found adrift in Tanjung Penawar waters near here by the Tanjung Sedili Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) on Monday.

The highly deco.mposed body, which was still clad in a black shirt and brown shorts was recovered 4.3 nautical miles off Tanjung Penawar, here at 2pm.

Tanjung Sedili MMEA district operation director, maritime commander Mustafa Kamal Abas said the agency had earlier received a distress call from a fisherman notifying a sighting of a body floating near Desaru waters at 11am on Monday.

He said a patrolling unit was deployed to locate and retrieve the body.

"The body was found at Tanjung Penawar waters and had been sent to Tanjung Pengelih Marina before being handed to police for post mortem arrangement," he said.
