Firemen rescue driver after lorry plunges 5m from flyover

KLANG: Firemen spent an hour to rescue a lorry driver who was trapped in his seat after the vehicle was hit by a factory bus and plunged from a five-metre high flyover to the road below near the Simpang Lima roundabout here today.

Fortunately, the 50-year-old sustained only minor injuries on the left hand in the incident about 8.40am.

South Klang district police chief, ACP Azman Abdul Razak said the lorry fell off the flyover after it was rammed from the rear by the bus.

“The bus driver was probably speeding and lost control of the vehicle before crashing into the rear of the lorry, causing it to skid and plummet to the road below.

“After hitting the lorry, the bus rammed into three cars,” he said, adding that the drivers of the three cars reportedly escaped without injuries.

Nevertheless, Azman said the police sought the bus driver as he was believed to have disappeared after the crash. – BERNAMA
