Sarawak welcomes Merdeka baby twins

KUCHING: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) welcomed a pair of twins at 12.25am today when Thian Siew Phing delivered the first baby boy, followed by the second baby boy at 12.45am here.

Thian and her husband Ng Jung Lung married for 10 years, already have three daughters, were always wishing for a boy. Now, they have two.

“When the doctors informed us that the twins are boys, we almost broke into tears,” said Thian, adding that they only came to know about it five-months ago.

Thian, who was accompanied by her husband Ng Jong Lung, said her actual delivery due date was set on September 20.

As of 1pm, SGH recorded 15 Merdeka babies delivered, who are among those entitled to receive SSPN-i account by National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).

PTPTN Sarawak General Manager Sapiza Ajuhari said a total of RM200 will be deposit into each account for the Merdeka babies, as part of the corporation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
