Let Umno Supreme Council decide on action against Dr M

PETALING JAYA: Umno Supreme Council will decide on the course of action that will be taken against former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said only the Supreme Council can decide on the appropriate action seeing that Dr Mahathir had showed up at the Bersih demonstration.

Nur Jazlan, who is also Pulai MP, personally felt that the former prime minister should not have attended the rally, regardless if it was to show solidarity with the people or not.

"Personally, I feel that he should not have showed up. It has been declared illegal but it was also his right (to be with the people)," he told reporters after attending a closed door briefing on the newly established Malaysia Expatriate Talent Service Centre (MYXpats Centre) here, today.

The two-day Bersih rally had been held over the weekend which saw a participation of more than 25,000 people. Dr Mahathir had showed up at the rally, on both days, and he said his presence was to be with the people.

The demonstration was held to call for the removal and stepping down of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the leader of the country.
