75-year-old man dies after a fight with neighbour

GEORGE TOWN: A 75-year-old man died of head injuries here after losing consciousness during a fight with his neighbour on Monday.

Siau Ah Kau @ Siaw Mui Seng and his 57-year-old wife were sweeping the front of their house when a neighbour, in the house opposite, almost knocked him down while reversing his car.

Startled, Siau shouted at his neighbour.

Hearing Siau’s harsh comments toward her son, the mother came to his son’s aid and started shouting back at Siau and his wife.

The son got out of the car to check what the scuffle all about was and tried to calm the situation.

The situation got out of hand when the mother, seeing Siau holding his broom tightly in his hand, slapped him.

In his effort to calm all parties, the son accidently hit Siau in the face with his elbow.

Siau fell after taking the blow. He was unconscious for two days before succumbing to his injuries today.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Alatrash Wahid said the victim was unconscious for two days and suffered heavy blood loss from the head injury.

He said the victim passed away at 7am at the Penang Hospital where he was receiving treatment.

“The post-mortem revealed that the victim suffered from internal bleeding due to blunt head trauma,” he told reporters here.

Mior Farid said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries a mandatory death sentence.
