79 flood victims in Ipoh evacuated

IPOH: A total of 79 victims from 18 families in Sungai Siput were evacuated yesterday when their house was inundated with flash floods.

State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said two flood relief centres in Sungai Siput were opened at 12.43pm yesterday.

“There were 57 evacuees from 11 families seeking shelter at Kampung Tok Sirat community hall while 22 people from seven families were sent to Datuk Haji Fadil community hall,” he said.

The victims were from Kampung Tok Sirat and Kampung Lintang.

The water levels had started to recede since this morning and as of 10am, the affected areas recorded a water level of between 0.3 metre and 0.5 metre deep.
