Zahid arrives in Kuching for whirlwind visit

KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived in the state for a short working visit to the city today.

Zahid and his entourage were welcomed by Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem and his deputy Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang upon their arrival at the Kuching International Airport here about 8pm.

The deputy prime minister was also given a surprise birthday party upon his arrival at the airport by Adenan and the rest of his entourage.

Zahid, who is also Home Minister, turns 63 today.

This is Zahid’s fifth visit as the deputy prime minister to the state after his last working trip to Miri last month.

Tomorrow, Zahid is expected to visit to the Kuching Barrage near here before attending a briefing on the recent floods in Sarawak at Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Petra Jaya near here.

He will leave for Kuala Lumpur on the same day.
