Security guard shoots man robbing money exchange premises [VIDEO]

PETALING JAYA: A man was injured after he was shot by a security guard in his attempt to rob a remittance and money exchange service premises in Bandar Sunway here today.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said the security guard had to shoot the suspect as he was trying to attack the guard by using a machete during the 2pm incident.

"The suspect suffered injuries on his left knee and was taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for further treatment.

"There were three suspects aged in their 20s involved in this case where one of them was safeguarding outside the premises, meanwhile another two tried to enter the counter, inside the premises.

"There were six staffs and no customer during that time. The two suspects immediately fled with their motorcycles, after their friend was shot by the security guard," he said adding that police would monitor the closed-camera television video (CCTV) to locate the other two suspects.

The case is being investigated under section 393 of Penal Code for attempted robbery.
