Fire razes three rooms in Langkawi budget hotel

LANGKAWI: Three rooms at a budget hotel on Jalan Bohor Tempoyak, Mukim Padang Matsirat, caught fire early this morning.

In the 1am incident, three of eight rooms in the premises were burnt between 10 and 40 per cent.

Persiaran Putra Fire and Rescue station chief Assistant Superintendent Mohd Akmal Mohd Khairi said they rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 1.05am.

“A fire truck with seven firemen arrived at the location 20 minutes later.

“We took about two minutes to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to other rooms,” he said when contacted here today.

Akmal said the first room was about 40 per cent burnt, while the second and third rooms were 30 per cent and 10 per cent burnt

respectively.

“The other five rooms survived the fire,” he added.
